Confessions of a Mom Blogger
Yesterday evening after work, instead of rushing home to greet and play with the hubby and kids, I met with my girlfriend Amina at The Olive Garden. I expressed my excitement over her new radio show and convinced her to sign up to Twitter (and if you haven’t signed up yet people, get with the program already). Now I usually “never” get out much but there were so many things that I wanted to say to her. I tried my very best to find the words to best describe everything from who I am now in my life to how I’ve grown and developed over the years as not only a mother and friend but as a woman.
And then I came across a really great blogger/entrepreneur name Renee that I met on Twitter who sums it up so wonderfully I simply had to give her a shot-out. Here’s a pic of her and her little cutie-pie.
Since I became a wife and mother, I’ve become somewhat of a homebody and in the words of my friend Amina, “my family has become my solace“. Although I do miss the comfort of having close friendships as I did when I was single, I am perfectly content blogging, and twittering, and networking online. Since launching this blog (BeautyFly was the first blog creation), I realized that blogging is “my therapy“. With that said, I just joined Renee’s blogsite at Cutie Booty Cakes and I think that this post sums up what it truly means to be a blogger to moms.
Blogging has changed my life in ways I never could have predicted. The sense of community is beyond anything I have ever experienced in my life. I opened a fortune cookie that said “You are welcome at any gathering” and I thought how true. I am quite gregarious. But the thing about blogging is that we all are welcome at every gathering. Our blogs are an entryway into each others lives, political views, religious believes, fascinations, childrearing, you name it and it is out there. We are welcome.
The sense of community for me goes beyond just visiting blogs. I love the openness of the bloggers that I contact directly. As a new blogger half of the time that I contact people I have no idea how “big” they are in the blogging world. And in my experience no matter how “big” or “small” a bloggers reach is – every last one has been gracious enough to answer my questions.
Perhaps it is the nature of social media but I have never met a more helpful group of people in my life. I joke all the time about this underground network of individuals that I have stumbled upon and am now a part of. And I know I have truly been missing out. All I can say is I am glad that I have found this “secret society” and have no plans on leaving anytime soon.
My daily posts enhance this community for me. By posting on a daily basis I increase my ability to interact with you. Having conversations by email and discovering new blogs really makes my day. I love it. Of course I don’t want to burn out. But as many bloggers say “this is my therapy” and I enjoy it more and more everyday.
Thanks Renee for all of your writing and I just wanna say that I love your locs and your beautiful baby. Be sure to check out her website, show your love and support by commenting and subscribe to it if you find her as awesome as I do.
Cheers to Motherhood!!!!

Hi, I’ve just stumbled upon your site and what a God send. I recently did a mindmap on my skills as I want to work around the children. I found that I’ve always been criticised for talking so I flipped it and found that I could do journalism, broadcasting etc and look you’re doing it! I live in England and no one is doing anything like this here so you are an inspiration.
Love and Peace

Creating this site came out of her own personal experience, struggles and victories as a stay-at-home mom with three little ones.
