The Way We Were: Life Magazine’s Women of the 30s to 60s
As you may know, though Life magazine is no more, the Life magazine photo archive lives on, through a partnership with Google, and its slowly being made available online.
Looking through their wonderful collection of photos is unbelievably engrossing, but I was captivated by the glimpses of fashion, beauty and style. Ive gathered some of the photos they have been surprising, informative, and entertaining.
Plus: You can purchase framed prints!
So lets take a look at these lovely mothers, working women, models, actresses and every day divas from my favorite decades… the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s. You can search for historic photos and etchings, from the 1750s to today, and all of them are for sale, should you want one framed in your bedroom!
Who can forget the roaring 30s (my favorite number at least until Im 31), when photographers like the very famous Alfred Eisenstaedt were shooting for Life. And then I checked out the 1940s next (I’ve already peeped some images of ladies wearing leis at a naval base in Hawaii!) and then the ’50s, the ’60s and so on.
Just click on the thumbnail below to see my collection of favs:
Can you guess where the celebrities, actresses and models are?
