vegan accessories 2009 The Hottest Vegan Friendly Accessories for 2009It’s not easy being a wife, mother and fashion-conscious vegetarian (just can’t give up sushi mommies), so when W magazine released their hottest vegan fashion and accessories, I was so excited. I’m totally inlove with these oh so chic, trendy and earth friendly fashion finds. Cheers to the Eco-Friendly Fashionsta true to her personal style as well as the environment.

1.) Vivienne Westwood Anglomania for Melissa Shoes collection, made from sustainable plastic. $80, nimli.com.

2.) olesenHaus Sandal that’s simply chic and vegan. $99, olsenhaus.com

3.) Neu Aura with rubber bottoms. $129, neuaura.com.

4.) Mink shoes are 100 percent cruelty-free. $355, minkshoes.com.

5.) Matt & Nat, monster yellow bag was all over the runway. $325, mattandnat.com, or nordstrom.com.

6.) Vivi for Elezar pink clutch can double as shoulder bag. $196, elezar.com.

And my final eco-licious fashion find finally, is for the eco-chic mommy out there. Beyond Skin shoes are handmade, contain no animal products and the packaging is made from recycled or sustainable materials.

What exactly makes clothes vegan friendly?

  • thecocktailcafe (author) said:

    Ok Jenny,

that’s actually a great question and here’s my answer. Eco-friendly and/or cruelty-free garments and accessories are just that. Free from chemicals, artificial bi-products and often use organic materials.

Harmless to the environment, non toxic to humans are also principles used in certain clothing lines that are vegan or cruetly-free. Some of the materials might be hemp, organic cotton, but truly vegan accessories use synthetic leather, vegetable dies and vegetable based glues. Thanks to Stella McCartney, who started the trend many others are committed to avoiding leather and fur, and also any animal-based glues or dyes.

    does this help?… hope so
