Michelle Obama: Fashion WE can Afford
Now we all can remember spotting Michelle Obama wearing that awesome black and white dress right? Well for those of you that are somewhere under a rock, Michelle Obama (Sarah Palin’s wardrobe is so out of my budget) has become America’s fashion darling (Tim Gunn would be so proud) and my personal “shero”. Like me, Michelle happens to shop at H&M ladies and this hot mom definitely seems to be trying her best to keep her wardrobe simple yet chic throughout this entire campaign.
When she wore the dress from White House Black Market (designed by Donna Ricco), on The View, this created not only a a media frenzy but women everywhere and began buying that dress. And what a cute little dress indeed. So, there I was at H&M in Montgomery Mall in Maryland looking for this black and white dress and “sold out”….. shit! Then I headed over the White Flint Mall (ghost town) and nothing… damn it!
Indeed, Michelle, 44, a Princeton and Harvard educated lawyer represents and has much of what many women admire: her own impressive resume, confidence, and, perhaps just as important, a real woman’s body (unlike recent celebrity style icons such as Halle Berry, although I envy). Her clothes seem carefully chosen to show that she is in shape while complimenting her curves. This look exudes a casual comfort with her body and don’t we all want that?

Yes fashion we can afford and she still looks good, she was on J Leno wearing J Crew…how down to earth is that. You might be the next first lady and your wearing J Crew, she has my vote for fashion.

[...] Michelle Obama is the no-contest Inspirational wife of the moment, having reinvented the role of supportive political spouse. No more smiling in the background, wearing navy and a hairspray helmet. Mrs. O’s MO is “keeping it real”, keeping it equal and keeping it modern. She is the first first-lady (elect) to dress in Gap, H&M, and J.Crew, the first who was previously the primary breadwinner, the first to talk about her husband’s “stinky” presence in bed. The first to behave, in short, like a regular wife (though with the appropriate extra injection of smarts, glamour and a little bit of style). She is inspirational, not because she is married to the next president of the United States, but because she is determined to make the most visible wifely role in the world a reflection of the lives most of us live. No1 Inspirational wife: Michelle Obama Top quote: “People have notions of what a wife’s role should be in this process, and it has been a traditional one of blind adoration. My model is different: I think most real marriages are.” [...]
