From BFFs to BEFs: Bride Wars was Worth the Money

bride wars From BFFs to BEFs: Bride Wars was Worth the MoneyIf you haven’t already seen this movie, I highly recommend it!

Weddings are big business, and now, so too are movies involving the often painful process of planning them. This movie brought back fond and frightful memories of when I got married several years ago and then when my sister got married last year.  I laughed my ass off as Liv (Kate Hudson) and Emma (Anne Hathaway) give the world a colorful glimpse into the fun, shopping and madness of planning a wedding. But before these BFF’s turn into BEFs, they shop. Vera Wang wedding dresses and Tiffany rings oh my!

Now I’ve got to mention that the reviews were mixed to say the least, with comments like:

a dopey if largely painless romantic comedy with Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway as best friends forever who turn into best enemies forever because of a wedding day glitch. Since childhood, the two have dreamed of getting married at the Plaza (alas, not to each other), a reverie that turns into a manufactured nightmare when their respective nuptials are scheduled for the same day in June.

A reasonable person might suggest a double wedding, as one of the male characters does. As far as I can tell, however, both Liv (Ms. Hudson) and Emma (Ms. Hathaway) are deeply unreasonable because they are female stereotypes.

PLEASE hire a Married Woman to write Reviews

Every time I think I have a valid opinion of a film that I spent my hard earned money to see, the next day, I get some single, lonely, man writer dictating to me what marriage (or even the idea of getting married) SUCKS!

Yet, despite all the hater, marriage is big business and judging from a clutch of recent titles - “License to Wed,” “Margot at the Wedding,” “Evening,” “Enchanted,” “The Heartbreak Kid,” “Sex and the City,” “Mamma Mia!,” “27 Dresses,” “Made of Honor,” “What Happens in Vegas,” “Rachel Getting Married” and “I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry.” - the walk down the aisle has picked up increasing speed.
