Fashion Show: Spring 2009 Fashion Trends For Moms
My Spring 2009 fashion trends and must haves for moms, are essential for any women looking to highlight their personal style without breaking the budget. So, here’s my “Recession Proof” style guide for Spring 2009 just for moms:
1.) The perfect pair of jeans: I can’t tell you enough mommies…. BURN THE MOM JEANS!!!! – Even Oprah (our BFF and cult leader) Oprah, hates mom jeans. This quote is lifted from Oprah’s website:
If the waistband of your jeans could double as a push-up bra or your backside looks flatter than a flapjack, you’re guilty of wearing “mom jeans.” While moms may not want to wear their daughters’ trendy, low-rise jeans, there are plenty of brands out there that cater to mature women with good fashion sense.

2.) One-shouldered tops, dresses and ruffles: You’ve seen this look everywhere thanks to our first lady Michelle Obama and her risky decision to “bare arms”. Just look at this year’s 2009 Oscar awards to to get an idea about just how much Michelle Obama has become a style icon. One shouldered tops and one shouldered dresses are in for 2009 Spring Fashion Trends for moms.

3.) Bold, unique and fabulous jewelry and accessories: If you are like me and most women I know that are GreyAholics, then its no surprise that color can be difficult to incorporate into your wardrobe. Never fear, there’s nothing like a bright necklace, earing or ring to really make your outfit POP. Don’t be afraid to play with bold and bright colors… Pink is in this season too ladies.

4.) A luxe handbag that’s NOT BLACK: Guilty as charged. Often, we try to buy the one purse for the next 3 years thinking, “it needs to go with everything”, so we buy black. But I’m here to tell you that soft colors are warm and inviting. Also, mixing and matching colors is OK… you have my permission to play with pink and green. Hell, even yellow has emerged as a signature color for the season.
GO Shopping>> LUXURY: New PARKER SATCHEL by Coach – $458
AFFORDABLE LUXURY: Forever 21: Drea Faux Leather Tote – $32.80
5.) Platform shoes are back: My fascination with shoes is no secret and when I checked out Fashion Week here in DC and in NYC, I found some shoes that had me drooling at the mouth. But when you’re a mom, time and comfort is a must, so I just love that platform shoes have emerged as 2009 Spring Fashion Trends. PLEASE: remember to ALWAYS get a pedicure when wearing sandals (eeeeewwwwww).

These super simple, sexy and easy spring trends for moms are hot and I’m excited to add some of these looks to my wardrobe and shake off the winter blues!

I think a nude bag is a good compromise for those not wanting to invest in a color. : ) You have an award on our blog!
Certainly some interesting facts. And I have to agree with you and Oprah about the mom jeans. They suck big time.
Now those are some awesome gifts I could have got mom for Christmas. Sigh! Oh well, next year I guess. Thanks
