Obsessed Movie Review: Beyonce vs Heroes Star Ali

Just another day in the life of a married mommy trying to raise a kept man.

obssesed movie trailer pic Obsessed Movie Review: Beyonce vs Heroes Star AliA message to all the ladies at The Cocktail Cafe – Keep your hands off rapper/husband Jay Z and leave him the hell alone! There I was witnessing ex-Destiny’s Child singer Beyonce Knowles against “Heroes” star Ali Larter.

In the movie, Lisa (Larter), a temp secretary who stalks her boss Derek Charles (Elba), while his wife Sharon (Knowles) stays at home raising their baby boy. Unaware of her husbands problems at work, Lisa continues making sexual advaces towards Derek who promptly and continuously regects until he’s forced to reveal the truth to his wife when Lisa overdosed in his hotel room.

As a wife and  mother with a blogazine that focuses and celebrates motherhood, marriage and mompreneurship, this film touches home for the many women out their that are struggling and often fighting to maintain healthy, honest and open relationships with their husband or partner.

Afterall, most cheating happens ON THE JOBS ladies!

In this society, marriage (esp. in the African American community) is so hard to have and to hold on to. Its important that we understand that to many single women (many of whom I’ve spoken to and communicate with on a daily basis), a married man is a challenge and a gift.

How does the perfect wife keep her relationship and at what point do we fight for what we love? All questions I’ve asked myself time and time again as I listen to so many single, unmarried, childless folks chattter on and on about what they know nothing about. Its not easy being a mother or wife, but in order to promote healthy discussion, I wonder why it seems as though there is a war against this notion

I understand that marriage and even motherhood isn’t always the option for many, but lets not pretend that we as women do not seek companionship, loyalty, trust and honesty from a man.

The problem as I see it is that there is a disconnect between what women want and what women are willing to accept. Separating the fantasy from reality often gets confusing as we say we don’t want to be married, yet we’re fucking a married man thinking… “when he leaves his wife and children, I’ll have him all to myself”. You know you’ve heard it all before.  We accept the “open relationship” because we’ve given up on the ideas of having him all to ourselves.

We want our men to be more involved in the lives of our children but make it more about ourselves and use the children as our way of getting back at them. Does this not sound crazy to you? Only when we as women acknowledge our own self truth will we gain the respect, love, admiration of the ones that we love.

Overall, the movie was pretty good and Beyonce aka “Sasha Fierce” really suprised me with her acting skills. Although I liked this film, I didn’t think that the fight scene was as intense as other movies like “Misery” or “Fatal Attraction” but didn’t disappoint either.

I wonder if Beyonce was channeling this character from her own experience being Jay Z’s wife… hhhmm

I want to see this movie as well and Rhea you bought up some good points as you always do. My husband and I do speak freely about our wants, fantasies and just about everything else. I chose this because to be honest if a man can’t speak to his wife then who will he speak with. The funny part about is my husband feels more connected to me because I don’t judge him for the things he fantasizes about. We don’t have to provide what they want, but we should allow them to speak freely without being judge. You will be surprise how much curiosity this really cuts down.
